'Thandel', written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti, will hit the screens on December 20 this year. Presented by Allu Aravind and bankrolled by Bunny Vasu on Geetha Arts, the film has is costing its producers a whopping Rs 75 crore.
This makes it the most expensive film in Naga Chaitanya's career. However, if you consider its potential at the Hindi box office, the budget is not a big deal.
Director Chandoo Mondeti's subject comes with a pan-national appeal, complete with anti-Pakistan sentiment. So, if the multi-lingual release performs like 'HanuMan' or 'Kartikeya 2' in Hindi, the investment will be worth it.
The 'Majili' and 'Custody' hero is playing a boatman in the film. Sai Pallavi, his romantic interest, is the female lead. The 'Viraata Parvam' actress is currently also doing 'Ramayana' opposite Hindi star Ranbir Kapoor.
With music by Devi Sri Prasad, 'Thandel' has cinematography by Shamdat of 'Virupaksha' fame. Edited by Navin Nooli, its story has been written by Kartheek Theeda. The art direction is by Srinagendra Tangala.
