Big production houses have always ruled the roost in our film industry. The banners with hefty packages and money have a command of their own and right from the times of ANR and NTR, it is these banners that have kept Tollywood flying high, although the contribution by other medium and small-scale producers can never be overlooked. With back-to-back films, there’s always enough work for everyone involved in the 24 frames of our industry.
However, one banner that is standing out in recent times is Mythri Movie Makers. Their success streak has been on right from the time of Srimanthudu. But this time they have undertaken a very big adventure. That involves not only producing the films of two big stars, but also the risk of releasing both of them at the same time. This is something unheard of recently in Tollywood film industry.
Mythri Movie Makers has produced the Megastar Chiranjeevi starrer Valteru Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Veera Simha Reddy. Coincidentally, Shruthi Hassan is the heroine in both the films. Both movies are releasing this Sankranthi. Balayya’s film is releasing on January 12th while Chiru’s film is releasing on January 13th. No one knows the reason why this banner is taking such a risk or what is the confidence behind this move of two big budget films releasing at the same time.
Both Chiru and Balayya are top heroes and both movies need top openings to march towards a hit or even to fare as above average at the box office. This is a time when one film from one banner and another movie from another banner are considered as competition. If both films are good in terms of content, the result may be good. But if one flops and another movie becomes a hit, then it may be a scenario where one film has impacted the other’s result.
However, they are not compromising anywhere related to promotions and at the same time, these films have been made by directors who really love the craft. This could be one of the reasons. If both become hits or even if one becomes a hit, then the winner is anyway Mythri banner. This can also give some confidence to other banners to take the same risk in the future.
