'Music Shop Murthy', touted to be an emotional and hilarious drama, is written and directed by Siva Paladugu. Produced by Harsha Garapati and Ranga Rao Garapati of Fly High Cinemas, the musical family drama also features Ajay Ghosh and Chandini Chowdary in leading roles. With cinematography done by Sreenivas Bejugam, the film's music is by Pavan. Edited by Bonthala Nageswara Reddy, Moin Master is the dance choreographer.
Ahead of the film's release in theaters on June 14, director Siva Paladugu talks about its merits:
Highlights from the interview:
Hailing from Vijayawada, I have always been passionate about movies. That passion led me to pursue a diploma in filmmaking in the US. My first film opportunity came quite easily. Working with friends who produced the film meant there were no budget constraints, which was a huge advantage for a first-time filmmaker. It was an amazing learning experience.
I didn't want to cast a young protagonist. I felt that a middle-aged protagonist would be fresh. I zeroed in on the versatile Ajay Ghosh even before 'Pushpa: The Rise' wasn’t released in theatres. He is an effortless artist. Anjana, the female lead, is played by Chandini Chowdary. She plays a catalyst in Murthy's life.
The film's soundtrack reflects the careful research put into capturing the evolution of music across generations. Small films with rich content are increasingly becoming hits.
I didn’t write this story to convey a message. I wanted to show the grit, determination and hard work of a 50-year-old man, who failed to achieve his dream when he was 25. The journey is going to be very emotional.
