Interview: 'Manamey' director Sriram Adittya

'Manamey' is going to hit the screens on June 7. As the trailer of the film suggests, director Sriram Adittya has dealt with the challenges of parenting in this family entertainer. In his latest interview, he says that the musical relationship drama has a profound final 30-minute stretch.

A refreshing take on parenting:

Telugu cinema has long needed a film that tackles parenthood with a refreshing dose of humor, and 'Manamey' promises to deliver just that with its simple yet engaging story.

The 'Kushi' touch:

Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty play a squabbling couple. 'Kushi' (2001) is among my favourite movies. The ego clashes between the lead pair in that rom-com have always stayed with me. 'Manamey' is different from 'Kushi' but what is common between the two is that the lead pair find it hard to have a reconciliation.

My son's debut:

Vikram Adittya is playing the son of the lead pair. He was my first choice. One of the reasons why this movie is special to me is because it features my son.

Sixteen songs in total:

There are 16 songs in total in 'Manamey'. Hesham Abdul Wahab is a talented composer. (The director hinted that most of the songs are not full-fledged).
