Interview: Varalaxmi Sarathkumar about 'Sabari'

Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's female-driven film 'Sabari' is slated to hit the screens on May 3. Directed by Anil Katz, the film is a multi-lingual release. The film is produced by Mahendra Nath Kondla. The Telugu-Tamil actress has spoken about the psychological thriller in her latest interview.

Highlights:

The biggest merit of 'Sabari' is that there are no slow or boring segments in the movie. I can't say whether the movie will become a super-hit, a hit or just an above-average one in terms of its commercial performance, but I am confident that nobody will find it boring.

Director Anil has shown skill in terms of avoiding unnecessary elements. The story takes off without wasting screen time. I play an emotionally disturbed mother who has to protect her vulnerable daughter.

I don't see playing a mother as an actress is a disadvantage. For that matter, I played a mother in my very first movie! An artist must be willing to play any sort of role.

I disagree with those who say that 'Veera Simha Reddy' had me in a character role. I had more scenes than the female lead. I have got to experience range in Telugu cinema. I had the role of a protective sister in 'HanuMan'. 'Krack' and 'Naandhi' had me in contrasting roles. My previous Telugu film 'Kota Bommali IPS' was a bigger hit than what we had expected.

Social media has become synonymous with negativity. Faceless people with no achievement to speak of throw insults at famous people. I don't take online negativity seriously.
