'Lal Salaam', the sports drama film directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and produced by Lyca Productions, has scored a royal duck at the Telugu box-office. Its share on its release date (February 9) is said to be a big zero. The film didn't give any returns after discounting costs incurred by theatres towards rent, etc.
It is not like the film did very well in Tamil despite Superstar Rajinikanth playing a much-publicized special role. As per Tamil trade reports, the Vishnu Vishal-Vikranth starrer earned a gross of not more than Rs 5 Cr.
The BO figures indicate that Rajinikanth's immense popularity doesn't guarantee exceptional numbers all the time. Specifically, Telugu audiences didn't perceive even the slightest interest in the movie's trailer.
The film features music composed by the maestro AR Rahman, whose album is a flop in Telugu. The cinematography is by Vishnu Rangasamy, while editing is by B Pravin Baaskar. Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha Rajasekhar, KS Ravikumar, and Thambi Ramaiah have played supporting/negative roles in this release. Superstar Rajinikanth is seen in a strong role. Moideen Bhai is the name of his character. Kapil Dev, legendary former cricketer, is also seen.
