Senior journalist GR Maharshi authors 'Morning Show', book unveiled

Senior journalist GR Maharshi has written a book titled 'Morning Show' (published jointly by Jamili Sahitya and Samskruthika Vedika), which is a compendium of his experiences watching movies from childhood. Director Kumaraswamy (of Akshara) published this book that gives a thoughtful analysis of the changes in the film industry and the film narratives over decades.

Director Mamidi Harikrishna, illustrator and writer associated with the Telangana State Department of Language and Culture, said that 'Morning Show' has a tone of humour (satire). "More than information, this book encapsulates the thoughts of its author. Without literature, there is no art," he added.

Director Sagar K Chandra of 'Bheemla Nayak' fame said that Maharshi's literary skills are impeccable. "No matter how much we talk about his style, it won't suffice," he added.

Director Karuna Kumar said, "I have known Maharshi as a writer. The very title of the book proves how much Maharshi loves cinema."

Maharshi said that he used to watch stunts in NTR's movies as a child with amusement. His love for moving images made him watch movies without linguistic limitations. "This book brings out in detail the evolution of cinema from the 1970s to 1990s. Without divulging the specific details included in this work, let me say that the reader can expect a tinge of sarcasm. I thank Kumaraswamy for devoting a lot of time," the author added.
