IPC Section 509 against Tamil actor after Trisha's complaint

The other day, Trisha Krishnan slammed Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan for saying that he had hoped for a rape scene with her in Leo. National Commission for Women on Monday said that Khan will be tried for sexual harassment by electronic mode. In the worst case scenario, he could be imprisoned for three years.

"The National Commission for Women is deeply concerned about the derogatory remarks made by actor Mansoor Ali Khan towards actress Trisha Krishna. We are taking suo motu in this matter directing the DGP (of Tamil Nadu) to invoke IPC Section 509 B and other relevant laws. Such remarks normalize violence against women and must be condemned," the Commission today said.

The IPC section pertains to uttering any word or making any gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman, etc. "Simple imprisonment for 3 years plus penalty could follow," the law says.

The NCW action comes after yesteryear actress Khusbhu Sundar took up the issue with the NCW. It has to be seen if Khan will try to defend himself by fielding the best lawyers.
