'Leo' is set to become the first Kollywood film to gross Rs 100 Cr on Day 1 (October 19). So far, the first three biggest grossers from Tamil cinema are Rajinikanth-starrers. As per box-office tracking portal ABO, '2.0' grossed Rs 93 Cr, 'Jailer' (at No. 2) grossed Rs 90 Cr, and 'Kabali' (at No. 3) grossed Rs 88 Cr.
Rajinikanth holds those records mainly because he is ultra-popular in the Telugu States as well as Karnataka, unlike his colleagues such as Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith.
For a change, a Vijay film is expected to gross big.
The only factor that might work against 'Leo' is the probably delayed release of 'Leo' in the Telugu States owing to a court's restraining order on its release on October 19. If the court's verdict stays, 'Leo' will not hit the screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on the 19th. That will considerably affect the Day 1 record of 'Leo', considering the advance bookings are highly encouraging for the Telugu version of the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial.
