C Malla Reddy, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Telangana, has announced that he will be producing a handful of films each year starting in 2024. The TRS politician will be making movies set in Telangana.
"I will be floating a film banner soon. On it, I will be producing four films year after year. Each of those films will be centered in Telangana. The characters will speak in the Telangana dialect," Malla Reddy has been quoted as saying.
In recent years, there has been a demand for movies that tell authentic, rooted stories set in the villages of Telangana. In recent times, the resounding success of 'Balagam' has only accentuated the impression the audience have an insatiable appetite for Telangana-based movies, which are set in Telangana not for tokenistic reasons. The characters, their language, their cultural practices, and customs are bona fide.
Malla Reddy's production house, however, will have a tough time finding the right stories. Usually, established players in the film industry amass all the good scripts, as they know how to attract talents with the help of their networks.
