Is Pawan Kalyan planning Tamil debut by design?

'OG', directed by 'Saaho' fame Sujeeth, is slated to be released in theatres in December this year. The Pawan Kalyan-starrer is increasingly turning out to have been designed to favour the Tamil audience as much as the Telugu audience in terms of casting.

The preference for actors in Tamil cinema over Telugu cinema for character and supporting characters in 'OG' reveals a significant insight into the mindset of filmmakers. Arjun Das, known for his roles in 'Kaithi' and 'Master', has been selected to portray an undisclosed character in the film. It is noteworthy that his popularity is primarily concentrated in the Tamil film industry.

Sriya Reddy, despite having only worked in a few Telugu films, has secured a role in 'OG.' Her enthusiasm for the project stems from her belief in the script's "mind-blowing" nature.

Despite Priyanka Arul Mohan's appearances in Telugu films like 'Gang Leader' and 'Sreekaram', her popularity is predominantly among the Tamil audience. Having worked on Tamil movies such as 'Don' and 'Doctor', she is now engaged in the Tamil film 'Captain Miller'. It is evident that she is more occupied with projects in Kollywood rather than Tollywood.

Casting is primary when you want to cater to other language audiences. 'OG' has been planned as a proper pan-India film. Since films like 'Vikram' have done great in Tamil, the makers of 'OG' might be hoping that a gangster film like 'OG' has great potential there. Power Star may well be planning a proper Tamil film debut with the film.

Pawan's contemporaries such as Mahesh Babu have already debuted in Tamil. In the era of pan-India movies, quite a few stars are virtually debuting in multiple languages. But most of these movies are not doing great in Tamil. 'OG' could well become an exception.
