Film reviews have unequivocally panned 'Unstoppable'. The comedy caper, released in theatres on June 9, features Bigg Boss Telugu title winner VJ Sunny in a lead role alongside Saptagiri.
Sunny is offended by the uniformly negative reviews that criticized the Diamond Ratnababu directorial as a tasteless outing. In a speech at an event related to the movie, Sunny asked film critics to first make a movie to see for themselves what artists and technicians go through on a daily basis. "The hardships are too much. Yet, we come to work with a simile," he added.
The actor is also hurt by critics describing his performance in unflattering terms.
Sunny's gentle outburst serves as a reminder that winning the Bigg Boss title does not guarantee an easy path to fame in the film industry. Title winners are vulnerable and live with the constant fear that offers might vanish if the media is critical of them and their movies. It highlights the precarious nature of their career prospects and the challenges they face in sustaining their success beyond the reality show.
To be fair to film reviews, Sunny's performance in 'Unstoppable' was hardly noteworthy. He struggles to emote. The film is doing whatever business it is doing only because of others like Saptagiri, Chammak Chandra, Prudhviraj, etc.
