'The Kerala Story' was released in theatres on May 5 and minted money like crazy in its run thus far. It netted more than Rs 240 Cr at the world box office.
Its director, Sudipto Sen, has now announced a biopic. Titled 'Sahara Sri', the film will tell the story of the iconic businessman Subrata Roy.
The life of the founder of the Sahara India Pariwar has seen many interesting highs, but it has also not been without its share of legal disputes and controversies. In February 2014, the Supreme Court famously ordered Roy's detention for failing to appear before it in connection with a legal dispute with the SEBI. Those were the last days of the UPA government. A section of the media saw it as a witchhunt by the Congress government for opposing Sonia Gandhi in the past.
The Aamby Valley City project, a high-profile township near Pune, has also been hobbled by legal issues. In 2017, the apex court of the country ordered its auction to "recoup" Rs 14,000 Cr on the grounds that investors were "duped".
The biopic will be made on a rich scale by Sandeep Singh and Sam Khan. The music is by AR Rahman. Dr. Jayantilal Gada, who presented 'RRR' in Hindi, is presenting the biopic.
