Sudigali Sudheer is seeking an image transformation. Following his comedic role in the movie 'Galodu' (2022), he has taken on the challenge of portraying a romantic hero in the upcoming Telugu film 'Calling Sahasra'.
The ETV show 'Jabardasth' is what made Sudheer popular. His gags on the show and his supposed offscreen relationship with Rashmi Gautam made him a familiar name among millions. When he played lead roles (in 'Software Sudheer' and 'Gaalodu'), he didn't overtly try to become a lover boy.
But never did anybody see this romantic hero avatar coming. In the latest song from 'Calling Sahasra' (headlined by Sudheer and Dollysha), we see Sudheer behaving like the Tarun and Uday Kiran of the 2000s.
Romance is not an easy acting beat. You have to really look the part. The 'Calling Sahasra' song comes with a soulful rendition by veteran singer Chitra. Such a bona fide romantic song can look out of place in the context of the film, given Sudheer's image for playing comical and sometimes clownish characters on the small screen as well as the silver screen.
Comedians such as Shakalaka Shankar have experienced negative consequences when they ventured into areas that didn't align with their strengths. It is concerning that Sudheer might face a similar fate if he pursues a path as a romantic hero. The potential mockery he may receive for this endeavor could significantly impact his career prospects.
