It has been rumoured at least twice in recent months that SS Thaman has upset Mahesh Babu and Trivikram by giving below-par work to SSMB28. Just a few days ahead of the film's title reveal, a rumor that Thaman is not the film's composer any longer has once again been generated.
Sometime later, Thaman put out a tweet saying that a glimpse video to be released on May 31 is going to be striking.
On the face of it, this appears to be a hit job against Thaman. If you read the fake news about his forced exit from Mahesh's film, you get the impression that Thaman is doing a poor job as a music director.
But there could be more to it than meets the eye. The fake reports may well have been floated as a marketing strategy. If you lower the fans' expectations through planted news, they will feel extremely glad when the songs/videos/teaser come out even if the music is above average.
SSMB28 was also in the news over delays and alleged plans to shelve it. Even those rumours were apparently planted to create emotive buzz around the project.
