Tamil directors fail Mahesh, PSPK, Ram, VD and now Naga Chaitanya

'Custody' is the latest flop in the town. The movie is expected to turn turtle at the box office. While reviews from Chennai-based media are positive, the Tollywood media has given the film a thumbs down.

Venkat Prabhu, a critically-acclaimed Kollywood director, directs the Naga Chaitanya-starrer. Custody's failure will mean that Tollywoodians won't trust Kollywood filmmakers' ability easily, especially after Ram Pothineni burnt his hands by collaborating with N Lingusamy on 'The Warriorr', which flopped badly just a few months ago.

Vijay Deverakonda had a terrible time collaborating with a Tamil filmmaker on 'NOTA' in 2018. The Telugu-Tamil bilingual was a disaster.

It's not just medium-range stars but also superstars whom Tamil directors have failed. Mahesh Babu had a nightmarish experience not once but twice ('Naani' and 'SPYder') and Pawan Kalyan was failed by the likes of SJ Suryah ('Komaram Puli') and Vishnu Vardhan ('Panja').

Tamil directors have been picked because most notable Telugu directors are too busy with their projects.
