Director Venkat Prabhu's Telugu-language debut is 'Custody', which is hitting the screens this May 12. He is a renowned filmmaker in Kollywood, but not so in Telugu.
But 'Custody' could change that. The 'Maanadu' and 'Mankatha' director can potentially give Tollywood directors a run for their money if the Naga Chaitanya-starrer becomes a box-office hit. He will surely be sought-after by Telugu producers and heroes if his Summer release satisfies both Telugu and Tamil audiences.
In the age of pan-South India and pan-India movies, heroes want to work with directors who can make bi-linguals/tri-linguals work.
Venkat Prabhu is also one Kolllywood director who doesn't opt for realism like Vetrimaaran. That's why he is more appealing to the Telugu heroes compared to others like Vetrimaaran and Mari Selvaraj.
