Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported 'The Kerala Story', the Hindi-language film which hit the screens on Friday. Addressing a crowd in Karnataka's Bellari, the BJP supremo said that the Bollywood film, starring Adah Sharma and others, is based on a terror conspiracy.

Modi, who is unlikely to have watched the movie, stated that the film exposes the "ugly truth of terrorism". He also said that the film lays bare the ulterior designs of terrorists.

He then targeted the Congress party for "opposing the film made on terrorism". So far, leaders such as Sashi Tharoor have openly castigated the film. Modi was indirectly pointing that out, accusing the Grand Old Party of standing with terror tendencies. Modi also said that Congress has shielded terrorism keeping its vote bank in mind.

'The Kerala Story', as per early trade reports, is expected to take double-digit openings across India. The Supreme Court and the Kerala High Court have refused to ban the film.
