Disney Plus Hotstar is going to stream 'Save The Tigers' from April 27. The web series is not a documentary but an entertainer. An episode features below-the-belt, basic humour around an underwear commercial within the series.
Priyadarshi, who plays a small businessman, features in a men's innerwear commercial where women are sexualized. The women desire a man just because he wears a certain underwear brand. A huge controversy erupts, leading to manufactured dissent.
The episode seems to have been written by director Teja Kakumanu on the basis of a 1998 incident. An ad for the undergarment manufacturer Calida, which featured the then sought-after actress Bipasha Basu and her co-star Dino Moreal, triggered a controversy "because it featured the male actor biting the actress's underwear." The ad was withdrawn after cases were filed.
