Looks like selecting Maestro Ilaiyaraaja as the main composer of 'Custody' is proving to be a blunder. The second song from the movie is titled 'Timeless Love'. Composed by the legend himself, the song has been rendered by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Kapil Kapilan. Even the cuteness of Krithi Shetty is unlikely to salvage the song, which mostly feels like a Kalyani Malik composition for a Srinivas Avasarala duet. Even OTT viewers would be put off by its outdated flavour.
The film is directed by Venkat Prabhu, a Kollywood filmmaker. He picked a Tamil composer for obvious and understandable reasons. But there is little that makes sense as far as the Telugu audience are concerned.
There is no doubt that Ilaiyaraaja is a genius. No two ways about it. But his music is well past its sell-by date. 'Custody' is not a 'Ranga Marthanda'. It is a commercial film. No wonder Netizens are asking the makers of 'Custody' to kindly do away with the song.
The film releases on May 12.
