The team behind the mythological film 'Shaakunthalam' is currently busy with promotions and has been generating a lot of buzz with their songs and trailers. The film stars Samantha in the titular role, with Dev Mohan making his Telugu debut as her romantic interest.
Interestingly, Dev Mohan is five years younger than Samantha in real life, a departure from the usual older hero-younger heroine dynamic seen in films. Born in Kerala, Dev Mohan worked as a mechanical engineer in a corporate organization for a few years before entering the film industry.
During his time in Bengaluru, he regularly worked out at the gym and participated in Mr. India contests, making it to the finals in 2016 and even taking part in a couple of fashion shows. It was surprising to many when he was offered the lead role in Samantha's film, but he has stated that he learned a lot from working with the star actress and she cleared many doubts for him on set.
Dev Mohan made his entry into the film industry with 'Sufiyum Sijathayum' in 2020 and has since worked on movies such as 'Home', 'Patrandu', and others. His first film released on OTT and it was a major hit featuring Aditi Rao Hydari as the heroine, The film 'Sufiyum Sijathayum' showcased him as a sufi mystic and his onscreen presence worked wonders for the film. It remains to be seen if he will impress Telugu audiences with his performance in 'Shaakunthalam' and create magic once more.
