Akshay Kumar, a super star in Hindi cinema has achieved great success in his 32-year career. However, his recent films have struggled at the box office, with every film since Sooryavanshi failing to make an impact. His latest release, Selfiee, had a disappointing opening day, earning only Rs 2.55 crore.

In a recent interview conducted prior to the release of Selfiee, Akshay spoke candidly about the spate of flops and took responsibility for them. The actor admitted, "This is not the first time this has happened to me. There was a time when 16 of my films did not work consecutively. Another time, eight of my films did not work. Even now, three or four of my recent films have not worked. The thing is, it is your own fault when a film doesn't work. The audience has changed, and you have to change and adapt. You have to deconstruct and reinvent yourself because the audience wants to see something new. It is a wake-up call when three or four films flop. It's time to change, and that's what I'm doing. I'm trying."

When asked about how the recent failures have affected him, Akshay responded that he doesn't blame anyone else for his failures. "It's not just my story, it happens to everyone. It's a natural aspect of life that there is night after day and morning after night. Not every business venture will be a success, and not every cricketer will score a century every time. The only thing I want to say to everyone is to stop blaming anyone else. Don't blame the audience; it's your fault. It's my fault," he said.

The actor emphasized the need to reinvent and adapt in changing times and said, "This is my fault, 100%. Your film not working is not because of the audience or any other factor. It's because you haven't provided the right ingredients in your film."

Selfiee, directed by Raj Mehta, also stars Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Abhimanyu Singh, and Meghna Malik. The film, a remake of the Malayalam film Driving Licence, collected just Rs 2.55 crore on its first day, making it Akshay's lowest-opening film in 14 years.
