Despite the fact that he hails from a legendary family and having sufficient clout in the Tollywood circuit with some good fan base, Nandamuri Kalyanram has not been attempting to get the much coveted 'mass hero' tag. Instead, he has been sensible enough to select scripts with good content and try to carve a special image for himself.
To some extent he has also been successful and even if things are not working for him, he is not stopping at experimenting. As part of that, his last venture was 'Amigos' wherein he essayed a triple role and the concept revolved around Doppelganger. Unfortunately, the film failed to work and many felt the director could not handle this subject rightly.
Leaving that behind, all eyes are now on Kalyanram's next and this is also going to be very interesting. We are talking about the movie 'Devil' but the cine analysts say there are few challenges. According to reports, the film happens to be a period backdrop wherein Kalyanram is essaying the role of a secret service agent. This is set on the backdrop of the British era.
In terms of challenges, the concerns being raised is the storyline as spy thrillers need to be highly engaging with some exceptional action sequences. Even big stars like Akshay Kumar could not win in this genre. Secondly, since it is a period movie it is obvious that the budget is going to be extremely high so Kalyanram should ensure this doesn't end up as a cost failure despite having a good subject.
Of course, the saving grace is the director Naveen Medaram. He is not much of a filmmaker as he made only one movie way back in 2014 but he is a very good visual effects guy who has worked in Hollywood movies like 'X-Men' and 'Cloverfield'. So, here's wishing the best of success to Kalyanram.
