Telugu born actress Avantika Vandanapu, who is 18 now, has been cast in the upcoming Paramount Pictures film based on the Broadway musical "Mean Girls". Avantika will play the role of Karen Smith and is thrilled to bring a fresh perspective to the iconic character.
The actress-dancer is also set to star and executive produce a live-action young-adult series for Disney Branded Television titled "A Crown of Wishes". This series is based on a New York Times bestseller and will make Avantika the youngest South-Asian to achieve this feat.
In fact Avantika is known to Telugu people with her appearances in Brahmotsavam, Premam and Rarandoi Veduka Chooddaam. She's also popular with several commercial Ads as a child.
Avantika grew up in California and is trained in various forms of dance, including Kuchipudi, Kathak, ballet, and contemporary. She is the only child of a chartered accountant Anupama Reddy Chintala and a software engineer Srikanth Vandanapu, and her early childhood spent in India has had a significant impact on her personal growth.
