In the 90s and then a decade after that, it was the reign of King Khans in the Bollywood film industry – Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan. The trio ruled the industry like anything with back to back hits and it was the time when Bollywood had become famous outside the country as well carried by Pakistani and Indian diaspora.
Among all those, who could both impress classes and masses, it was none other than King Khan and the Badshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan. The film "Pathaan," starring Shah Rukh Khan which marked his return to the screen after 4 years, has shattered all the previous records after its January 25th release.
The movie is now on track to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India. "Pathaan" earned approximately Rs 438.5 crore so far and this figure has now surpassed the overall collection of "KGF 2" which had earned Rs 434.7 crore in Hindi alone. This was a new record created by KGF 2 last year.
The film's producer YRF has made an announcement that the worldwide gross collection is Rs 832.20 crore. There's one more advantage now for the film since there are no major Bollywood releases until February 17th and this gives "Pathaan" a chance to overtake Baahubali 2 to become the highest-grossing film ever in the Hindi market as Baahubali 2 had raked in Rs 510.99 crore during its prime run in the Hindi market.
This is a stupendous comeback for Shahrukh Khan who has faced many questions on his crowd pull factor over the last few years and that too at a time when SRK has been more or less written off. For his fans all over the world, it is an amazing treat that they had been hoping for. The film is not only a hit but also made it to the top second which is a great feat and a record of sorts for SRK himself, which proves his mettle again.
