Athiloka Sundari Sridevi is known for punch roles in her Kollywood career but she has always been open about the fact that for her, Telugu films were more about glamour and colourful outfits and songs. She has impressively competed with male actors but she wasn't given much female oriented roles. Moreover, she was more into commercial cinema and not artistic ones.

The magazines of 80s in Bollywood mentioned an interesting instance of how Sridevi walked an extra mile to work with Vishwanath at least in one film. Despite many heroines interested to work in the 'Saptapadhi' remake in Bollywood, Sridevi literally slashed her remuneration by half to work with him.

The film was 'Jaag Uthaa Insaan' featuring herself, Mithun Chakraborthy and Rakesh Roshan in 1984. Rakesh Roshan produced this film which was shot extensively in Amaravathi near Guntur for weeks together. At a press meet in Guntur, when a film journalist reportedly sent a slip to the director questioning his wisdom in taking a glamour oriented actress like Sridevi for such an artistic role, the director reportedly said that she is worthy enough to do justice to any role.

Although the film didn't do well commercially, it was said to be a moment of great satisfaction for Sridevi to have worked under Kalathapasvi. Not everyone is aware that they both worked together for a film in Hindi, since they didn't team up for any high-profile project in Telugu.
