"A Wholesome Family Story for Dasara": Producer Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy on ‘Crazy Kalyanam’
Festive box-office windows thrive on heartwarming family stories, and producer Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy is confident that his upcoming venture, ‘Crazy Kalyanam’, will be the go-to entertainer for holiday crowds this Dasara. Bankrolled as Production No. 2 under the Arrow Cinemas banner and directed by debutant Badrappa Gajula, the film features an eclectic ensemble including VK Naresh, Anupama Parameswaran, director-actor Tharun Bhascker, and Akhil Uddemari (of Raju Weds Rambai fame).
Originally slated for October 30, the film advanced its theatrical arrival to October 16, 2026, seizing the festive Dasara holiday window.
In an extensive pre-release interaction, producer Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy opened up about the strategy behind the date shift, the three-year journey of crafting the story, and why the rooted drama will resonate universally.
Seizing the Dasara Festive Window
Explaining the team's swift decision to advance the release by two weeks, Jagan Mohan Reddy revealed:
"Our initial plan was an October 30 rollout. However, when Venkatesh garu’s Aadarsha Kutumbam vacated the festive slot, our entire team felt it was the perfect opening for us. Crazy Kalyanam is a clean, rooted family drama tailored precisely for festival moviegoers. The entire cast—Naresh garu, Anupama, Tharun Bhascker, and Akhil—backed our decision wholeheartedly and supported us in wrapping up the final patchwork swiftly."
The producer also highlighted that the film has completed its primary commercial deals ahead of release:
-
Non-Theatrical Revenues: Satellite, digital streaming (OTT), and audio rights have already been successfully closed.
-
Theatrical Backing: Leading distribution forces Bunny Vas, Suresh Productions, and Asian Cinemas watched the cut, loved the emotional quotient, and stepped in to distribute the film across 200+ theatres, with screen expansions planned as word of mouth builds.
Rooted in Medak, Universally Relatable
Despite its rural Telangana setting, Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasized that the dialect and emotions are crafted for all Telugu audiences:
*"This story unfolds in every village, in every home. While set in a rustic Telangana backdrop, the dialect has been kept accessible and smooth so that audiences across Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema will enjoy every beat.
Much like the emotional aftertaste you carry after watching a classic like Bommarillu, Crazy Kalyanam leaves you with a warm, fulfilling sensation as you walk out of the hall."*
Dedicated Performances & Natural Locations
-
Anupama Parameswaran & VK Naresh: The producer noted that neither role could have been played by anyone else. Both actors attended workshops to master the subtle regional diction naturally.
-
Tharun Bhascker: Brings impromptu humor and sharp improvisations to every frame. "After this film, Tharun will be flooded with acting offers," Jagan Mohan Reddy remarked.
-
Authentic Backdrops: The entire movie was filmed 100% on real locations in and around Medak town and rural hamlets, steering completely clear of artificial studio sets.
-
Earthy Melodies: Music composer Suresh Bobbili has tuned five primary tracks and two thematic bit songs, with poetic and folk-rooted lyrics penned by Dr. Gorati Venkanna (three songs), Kasarla Shyam (two songs), and Mittapalli Surender (one song).
With robust theatrical backing from Bunny Vas and Asian Cinemas, Crazy Kalyanam enters the festive box-office clash on October 16 with high confidence in its grounded, feel-good family core.
