Beyond Pure Horror: M.S. Raju Talks Agadha, Industry Praise, and Shaping a Mystic Divine Thriller!

Ahead of its grand nationwide theatrical arrival on August 14, 2026, veteran director-producer M.S. Raju interacted with media personnel to share insights into his upcoming directorial project, Agadha. Billed as a "mystic divine thriller," the film is presented by Ajay KR and produced by Kasi Visalakshi Balusu under the Sri Adivaraha Productions banner.

Featuring an ensemble cast led by Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Shravan Reddy, Ulka Gupta, Jovika Vijaykumar, Bhanu Chander, Shiju, Vanitha Vijaykumar, Roshan Basheer, and others, the project has already generated strong buzz across trade and film circles.

Understanding "Agadha": A Clash of Unknown Forces

Addressing the meaning behind the title, M.S. Raju clarified that Agadha delves far deeper than a standard jump-scare horror film:

"The word 'Agadha' represents an abyss or a profound void. We haven't seen God or dark entities with our eyes, yet we know forces exist. Agadha explores the clash between a divine presence and an opposing dark force.

As producer Shyam Prasad Reddy noted at our pre-release event, I don't craft plain horror movies. Agadha blends reality with cinematic fantasy, designed to offer a thrilling big-screen experience for youth, mass, and multiplex audiences alike."

Wishes from Mahesh Babu & Prabhas

M.S. Raju shared that preview clips and trailers earned warm endorsements from leading stars he previously collaborated with on landmark hits:

  • Mahesh Babu's Message: After viewing promotional cuts, Superstar Mahesh Babu sent an encouraging voice note saying, "You are hitting the target hard this time, sir!"
  • Prabhas' Call: Pan-India star Prabhas reached out personally, expressing confidence in the film's commercial potential.
  • Distribution Interest: Highlighting strong industry interest, M.S. Raju noted that teams from Hombale Films, Geetha Arts, and Annapurna Studios screened early cuts. The team has also committed to a 60-day theatrical window before any OTT streaming release.

Shifting Focus Purely to Direction & Writing

Reflecting on his career transition from legendary producer (Okkadu, Varsham) to full-time director (Dirty Hari), M.S. Raju noted that he now leaves financial administration to close friends and co-producers so he can focus entirely on scriptwriting, visual effects, and narrative pacing.

He also teased that the narrative foundation of Agadha leaves ample room for a potential prequel or sequel depending on audience reception following its August 14 release.
