Breaking Conventions: 'Kotha Cinema' Celebrates Local Talent; Wholesome Promotional Song Launched in Style
Proving that cinematic art thrives not just in cosmopolitan cities but in the very lanes of rural villages, debutant director Azhar has pulled off a massive feat. His upcoming local independent project, aptly titled Kotha Cinema, marks the grand silver-screen debut of over 100 local newcomers from the Singareni and Ramagundam belts.
To kickstart the promotional campaign, the makers hosted a grand event in Hyderabad to launch the film's highly relatable promotional anthem, "Memu Kooda Cinema Theesinamuro" (We Too Have Made A Movie, Bro). The grand launch was graced by Ramagundam MLA Makkan Singh Raj Thakur, renowned producer-director Madhura Sreedhar Reddy, director Sailu Kampati, and actor RK Sagar as chief guests.
A Father's Ultimate Sacrifice: Real Heroes Behind the Screen
Behind this independent film lies an incredibly inspiring real-life story of sacrifice and determination. During the event, special guests revealed that director Azhar’s father, Hussain, a hardworking Singareni Collieries employee for 40 years, risked his entire life savings and post-retirement PF money to fund his son’s cinematic dream.
Director Azhar’s Emotional Speech: "People often talk about rising from the grassroots level. We come from even deeper—straight from the dark depths of the coal mines of Ramagundam, a land that illuminates the country. Our song beautifully says, 'Does the goddess of cinema live only in the city? Go hunt the local gullies, she lives there too!' I wanted to prove that you can stay right in your hometown, gather your local people, and successfully make a feature film."
From Kirana Store Owners to Main Leads: Real Talents Speak
The film stars local talents Suresh and Rakesh in the main lead roles, both breaking away from their standard routines to chase their passion:
-
Lead Actor Suresh: "I run a small kirana general store near Markandeya Colony in Godavarikhani. When Azhar sir arrived for auditions, I went hoping to catch a small background role. To my shock, I was trained and chosen as the main lead!"
-
Lead Actor Rakesh: "Being a middle-class Singareni employee, moving to Hyderabad to knock on production house doors was a distant dream. Landing this lead role while staying in my hometown and eating my mother's home-cooked meals feels like an absolute blessing."
Solid Industry Backing and Multi-Talented Technicians
The anthem is written, composed, and arranged by busy music director Charan Arjun, who stated that the track perfectly captures the angst, dreams, and eventual victory of independent cinema dreamers.
The film is jointly produced by Mohammad Wasim Akram, Sagi Sudhir Rao, and Yadandla Satish Yadav. Impressed after watching the final cut, noted producer Madhura Sreedhar Reddy officially announced his complete support to anchor both the theatrical release and subsequent OTT distribution of Kotha Cinema.
