"A Commercial Epic from Kerala": Tovino Thomas and Team Pallichattambi Unveil Period Actioner in Hyderabad
The much-anticipated big-budget Malayalam spectacle Pallichattambi is gearing up for a massive pan-India release on April 10, 2026. Starring Tovino Thomas and Kayadu Lohar, the film is a collaborative production by World Wide Films and C Cube Bros (producers Chanakya, Chaitanya, and Charan). Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film held a grand press meet in Hyderabad today, signaling a major push for its Telugu release.
A 1950s Tale for a 2026 Audience
Director Dijo Jose Antony, previously acclaimed for Jana Gana Mana, shared that Pallichattambi is a period drama set in the 1950s.
-
The Vision: Despite the historical setting, Dijo emphasized that the struggles of humanity remain constant. The film operates on the core philosophy of "Love, Live, Love."
-
The Title: The makers chose to retain the original title, Pallichattambi, across all five languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada—as it represents a specific, iconic character in the story.
The "Mohanlal" Comparison and Industry Support
Renowned producer and distributor Bunny Vas, who is supporting the Telugu release, offered high praise after a private screening in Kochi.
"Usually, we expect Malayalam films to be small, concept-driven stories. But Pallichattambi is a massive commercial entertainer. Watching Tovino's performance and action sequences, I was genuinely reminded of the legendary Mohanlal. It feels like a fresh, high-quality commercial film that Telugu audiences will love."
Hero Tovino Thomas described the film as a "dream project" years in the making. He lauded his producers for their bravery in mounting such a large-scale production and praised his co-star, Kayadu Lohar, for her dedication to the role of Rebecca.
