"Happy to Re-enter Telugu Cinema with ‘Jatadhara,’ My Character is Very Interesting and Will Offer a Great Experience": Shilpa Shirodkar
Actress Shilpa Shirodkar is making her highly anticipated return to Telugu cinema with the Pan-India bilingual supernatural mythological thriller, ‘Jatadhara.’ Starring Nav Dalapati Sudheer Babu and Bollywood powerhouse Sonakshi Sinha, the film is set to deliver a stunning cinematic experience. Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, and presented by Zee Studios and Prerna Arora, the movie is releasing in Hindi and Telugu on November 7th.
During a recent press interaction, Shilpa Shirodkar shared insights into her character and her experience working on the film.
On Her Comeback and Character
Q: You are making a comeback in Telugu cinema after many years with this film. What is your character like?
Shilpa Shirodkar: I am very happy to return to Telugu after Brahma. I play a character named Shobha, which is very interesting. She is an extremely ambitious character with an intense greed for money, constantly seeking to become rich. She plays a very important role in the film's narrative.
"Playing this role was quite challenging because I have never played a character like this before. However, the clear vision and support from our directors helped me fully inhabit the role. I am thrilled to be re-entering with Jatadhara."
Collaborating with Sudheer Babu and the Industry
Q: What was the experience of working with Sudheer Babu?
Shilpa Shirodkar: Working with Sudheer Babu was a wonderful experience. There is so much to learn from this generation of actors. Sudheer Babu worked with immense dedication and put in 100% effort into this project. Sharing the screen with him was marvelous. Although Sudheer Babu and I are related, we maintained complete professionalism; once we enter the set, we are only actors.
Q: How has the Telugu industry changed since you last worked here (Brahma)?
Shilpa Shirodkar: The industry has developed significantly. We have advanced tremendously in terms of content and technical prowess. Telugu cinema is definitely going through its best phase right now.
Q: How did you feel about Mahesh Babu launching the trailer?
Shilpa Shirodkar: It brought me great joy that Mahesh Babu Garu launched our trailer. His gesture of welcoming me back into the industry made me very happy.

Q: What kind of film is ‘Jatadhara’?
Shilpa Shirodkar: It is a compelling supernatural thriller. It features stunning visuals, wonderful emotions, and great music. It is a film that will connect with everyone and will certainly give the audience a great experience.
Q: Your thoughts on Directors Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal?
Shilpa Shirodkar: Venkat and Abhishek are directors with absolute clarity. They know exactly what they want from their actors and successfully elicited fine performances from every member of the cast.
Q: And the Producers?
Shilpa Shirodkar: Prerna Arora is a fascinating producer. I was impressed by the subject when it was first narrated, and the film has been made with excellent production values.
Q: What is the response like in Hindi?
Shilpa Shirodkar: There is great curiosity everywhere—in Telugu, Hindi, and other markets. Expectations have increased manifold since the trailer release. Audiences are definitely going to see an amazing film on November 7th.
Q: Your favorite genre and dream role?
Shilpa Shirodkar: I love romantic comedies, but my dream is simply to do good films.
