Disney’s highly anticipated sci-fi epic Tron: Ares has created a sensation at IIT Bombay’s Techfest, sparking excitement and garnering a “mind-blowing” endorsement from some of India’s sharpest technology students. At a dazzling event, more than 2,000 IITians gathered in a campus auditorium that was transformed into a futuristic arena—blending imaginative cinema, cutting-edge technology, and gaming culture.

The night unfolded with a mesmerizing laser show and a high-energy LED dance performance, but the undisputed highlight was the premiere of the Tron: Ares trailer. The preview introduced audiences to a world shaped by intelligent machines, making the theme of an AI-driven society especially relevant. The event elevated this connection with a lively debate led by ex-IITian and entrepreneur Ashneer Grover, who facilitated energetic student discussions on the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence in today’s tech landscape.

With the iconic Tron Universe renowned for fueling creative imagination among technologists and inventors, organizers encouraged students to draw inspiration from its visionary world to develop creative interfaces and advanced data tools. According to Techfest Events Manager Mayank Mudgal, the collaboration marked a unique intersection of cinema, technology, and innovation, strengthening the festival’s reputation as India’s premier platform for tech-driven storytelling and immersive experiences.
