The much-awaited action drama Ghaati, starring Anushka Shetty as the female lead and Vikram Prabhu as the male lead, is directed by visionary filmmaker Krish Jagarlamudi. Produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi under First Frame Entertainment with the presentation of UV Creations, the film has already created huge buzz with its impressive promotional material. Slated for a grand release on September 5, Vikram Prabhu recently shared his experience about working on the film.

What excited you most about Ghaati?
It was director Krish himself who made me say yes. When he narrated the story, I felt so excited. He is a very positive person, with immense experience. Before narrating the script, he showed me how the world of Ghaati would look. He also explained clearly for half an hour why I was chosen for this role. He even mentioned the fan base I have in Hyderabad and discussed many scenes from my earlier films. He told me that he wrote the character of Desiraju keeping me in mind, and that gave me great joy. After our discussion, I realized our perspectives on the film were the same. He then gave me a detailed presentation about my role and the story.

What was your reaction after hearing the script?
The script felt very fresh. The world of Ghaati is something every viewer can relate to. Krish prepared the script with a lot of homework and answered all my doubts patiently. That gave me the confidence to say yes. And of course, working alongside Anushka Shetty, whom I admire, made me even happier.

This is your first direct Telugu film. How does it feel?
I am a big fan of Chiranjeevi garu and Nagarjuna garu. I watched their films many times in theatres. So acting in Telugu cinema now feels very exciting.

Had you always planned on doing a Telugu film?
Yes, I always wanted to act in a Telugu film, though nothing in my life ever goes as per plan. I wanted to be a director but became an actor instead. I just follow my heart. I once missed the chance to act with Anushka garu in Rudhramadevi. Director Gunasekhar initially approached me for the role of Gonaganna Reddy, which was later done brilliantly by Allu Arjun. He did complete justice to it.

What was it like working with Krish?
Working with him was very comfortable. The only challenge is that he is very poetic in his approach. But when it comes to scenes, he is extremely confident. He makes sure every frame connects with the audience.

Will we see you share screen space with your father Prabhu again?
I would love to act with my father, but only if the story demands it. It shouldn’t feel forced. If a role comes that is truly meaningful, I would definitely do it.

How about the action sequences in Ghaati?
I love doing action scenes, and I enjoyed every moment. The cinematographer Manoj played a crucial role in capturing them. The fights in this film are different compared to what we usually see.

Did playing Desiraju give you a new experience?
Every role gives an actor something new. For me, the language of this character was quite challenging, but it was a rewarding experience.

How was it working with Anushka Shetty?
I have always been her fan. She is such a sweet person in real life, yet also very powerful as a performer. She can convey emotions just through her eyes.

What about music director Sagar?
No matter how well actors perform or how beautifully scenes are shot, it is music that breathes life into them. Sagar has provided such powerful music that audiences will surely feel its impact in theatres.

Your experience with the producers?
Working with the producers was very comfortable. Making a film like Ghaati is different from regular films. It requires passion, and our producers showed immense dedication. When people watch the film, they will understand why I say this.
