Paradha Will Offer a Great Theatrical Experience and Emotionally Connect with Everyone: Director Praveen Kandregula
Hyderabad, Telangana – August 17, 2025 – Praveen Kandregula, the director of Cinema Bandi, is back with another exciting project, 'Paradha.' The film, which has been creating a strong buzz with its teaser, trailer, and songs, is set to hit theaters on August 22nd. Supported by The Family Man series creators Raj & DK, 'Paradha' stars Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana Rajendran, and Sangeetha in key roles. Produced by Vijay Donkada, Srinivasulu PV, and Sridhar Makkuva under the Ananda Media banner, the film's director shared insights during a recent press meet.
The Journey of 'Paradha'
Praveen revealed that the idea for the story had been with him for a while. "I was supposed to do a film with Dulquer Salmaan, but it didn't work out. Vijay Garu, who was the executive producer for Cinema Bandi, wanted to start a new banner, and that's when I pitched him the story of Paradha. He was very excited. When we told the story to Anupama, she became very emotional and said she wanted to do a film like this. After that, Darshana and Sangeetha joined the project."
The film was a massive effort, shot over three years with a crew of 100 people in beautiful locations like Manali and Dharamshala. "For me, this project was like my Baahubali. You will find a surprise element in every frame. The film features a huge cast, including Gautam Menon, Rajendra Prasad, and Rag Mayur," he said.
Confidence in the Content
When asked about his statement urging audiences to watch the film only after reading reviews, Praveen responded with confidence. "The audience is the ultimate judge. We will accept the reviews, whatever they may be. I believe that reviews will genuinely tell what is in the film. We have complete faith in our movie. Those who watch it and like it will definitely share their response."
Praveen also shared that the film was shot entirely on real locations without using a green screen, driven by the passion to give audiences a great theatrical experience. "If the audience believes I can handle visually grand films after watching this one, I will be very happy," he added.
Promotions and Expectations
Praveen praised Anupama for leading the promotions with a unique approach, like filming reels with a veil (paradha) and participating in a rally in Vizag. "The film has given us so much confidence. We made a very good film, and we are confident that if we take it to the people, they will definitely embrace it."
He promised a never-before-seen performance from Anupama. "You will see Anupama as a great performer in this film. The Anupama you have seen before is different from the one in this film. This is a special film for the Telugu industry. It will make people emotional and they will relate to many things."
On the story's authenticity, Praveen clarified that it's a fictional tale inspired by real-life incidents. "We have created a fictional village, but the incidents shown are inspired by what happens in society. The film explores how there is a veil not just for women, but for men as well. It will become a film that people talk about."
Praveen also mentioned that the music by Gopi Sundar is a huge asset to the film and that cinematographer Mridul Shen, a woman, has done a phenomenal job, giving the film a Bollywood feel. He concluded by saying that while he loves commercial films and hopes to direct one in the future, 'Paradha' is a project that deserves to be rewarded financially, so that more producers are encouraged to invest in content-driven cinema.
