“My journey has never been easy; nothing was handed to me on a silver platter. Even the release of this movie faced several challenges. In my 29-year-long career, this is the first time I have actively participated in promoting a film in this manner. Carrying the responsibility for this movie gave me a unique sense of joy. The essence of any film lies in the emotions it evokes. What stays with the audience is how they feel after watching it.
This film explores the era of the Mughals. Our history books have mostly glorified Aurangzeb without addressing his harsher deeds. While the Mughal dynasty ruled for two centuries, empires such as the Chalukyas, Pallavas, Kakatiyas, and Vijayanagara thrived for much longer; yet, these rulers remain relatively unacknowledged.
During Aurangzeb’s reign, Hindus were burdened with a tax called Jizya just to practice their faith, and we have addressed this challenging truth fearlessly in the film. Combining my martial arts training, technical know-how, and activism, I choreographed the film’s intense 18-minute pre-climax fight sequence, and I’m truly glad to see it being appreciated by the audience.
This movie is not about religion; it narrates the timeless battle between good and evil. I sincerely thank Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory for supporting Ratnam garu in bringing this project to the big screen.
My strength today comes from the unwavering support of my fans. More than box office figures, I take pride in the film’s honest portrayal of historical truths. Inspired by Shankarabharanam, I developed a deep appreciation for classical music, and this film reflects what cinema can accomplish.
