'USURAE,' a compelling rural love story meticulously crafted from real-life incidents, is poised to strike a profound emotional chord with audiences. The film is gearing up for its theatrical release on August 1st, bringing to the screen a gripping narrative inspired by true events, under the direction of Naveen D. Gopal. Starring TJay Arunashalam and Janany Kunaseelan in the lead roles, 'USURAE' is produced by Mouli M. Radhakrishna under the Bakhiya Lakshmi Talkies banner and presented by Srikrishna Productions.
Raasi's 'Slap Sentiment' and Powerful Performance
Veteran actress Raasi plays a pivotal role in the film, and her performance has already begun to draw significant attention. Following the positive response to the recently released trailer, the film’s music launch event took place in Hyderabad on Tuesday, where Raasi shared a humorous and confident take on the film's potential.
Actress Raasi quipped, “You’ve seen a glimpse of my character in the trailer. In this film, I hit the hero and the heroine too! In Preyasi Raave, I slapped hero Srikanth, and that film was a hit. By my sentiment, 'USURAE' will also be a hit—because if I slap someone, their film usually becomes a success!” She emphasized the film's authentic roots: "This film is rooted in true events. The director had a clear vision, and the content is strong. The production values are rich, and Janani, who plays my daughter, has a bright future. The hero looks very natural, and the film has a major twist that will surprise everyone. I truly believe this film will bring me success as well.”
Director and Producer Highlight Authenticity and Social Relevance
Speaking at the event, director Naveen D. Gopal shared insights into the production's commitment to quality: “The producer never compromised on quality. I’m truly grateful for his trust in me. I even showed the trailer to legendary actor Kamal Haasan in Chennai—he appreciated it and wished us success. We shot the film in a village near Chittoor, and it has the feel of a pure Telugu film. Everything was done very naturally.”
Producer Mouli M. Radhakrishna added, “Director Naveen is my cousin. About 12 years ago, he told me he wanted to make a short film. Now, he’s brought this powerful real-life story to the big screen. The film addresses a burning issue in today’s society and presents a love story that will move every heart. Raasi has perfectly portrayed the role of the heroine’s mother, and her performance, especially as Anasuya, is powerful. The project was supported by well-known names like Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vijay Sethupathi, and Shruti Haasan. Despite being a new team, we’ve made no compromises in quality.”
The music launch event was also attended by lead actors Janany and TJay Arunashalam, music director Kiran Jose, and other key members of the film's dedicated team.
