Actress Malavika Manoj, who stole hearts with her Malayalam film Jo, is making her Telugu debut as the female lead in 'O Bhaama Ayyo Rama.' Starring Suhas as the hero, directed by Ram Godhala, and produced by Harish Nalla under the VR Arts banner, this romantic comedy entertainer is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 11th. On Monday, lead actress Malavika Manoj interacted with the media, sharing insights into her role and experience.
Landing the Role and Embracing a New Character
"How did you get the opportunity in 'O Bhaama Ayyo Rama'?" Malavika was asked. She replied, "The director Ram selected me as the heroine for 'O Bhaama Ayyo Rama' after seeing my performance in the Tamil film Jo. I loved the story as soon as I heard it."
"What aspects of the story did you like?" she was questioned. "I can't explain it in a single line. It felt very different. In my previous films, I played simple village girls. In this film, my character is very modern, hyper, and has an attitude. I got a diverse role that every actress desires. I played the character named Satyabhama in this film."
"Did you do any homework for this role?" "I didn't do any workshop or homework for this film. The character of Satyabhama has no comparison to my real life. Even though I don't know Telugu, I understood its meaning and acted."
Telugu Experience and Challenging Scenes
"How did it feel to act in Telugu?" "It felt very happy. Telugu technicians and artists have a lot of professionalism. I acted very comfortably. Other than the language, I didn't feel any problem in Telugu. I felt comfortable here just like in all other languages."
"Was there any challenging scene in this film?" "In this film, even though I don't know swimming, I swam despite being scared because I didn't want the shooting to be postponed for a scene. I did it for the film even though I was very scared."
"Did you learn Telugu?" "During the filming of this movie, I am trying to learn Telugu. I understand Telugu... I watch films dubbed from Tamil to Telugu. Recently, I watched the Telugu film Hit-3."
"Do you want to do any challenging roles?" "I always want to do different and challenging roles. If I do routine roles in every film, not only I but also the audience will get bored. I like to see myself in diverse roles in every film."
Working with Co-stars and Film's Essence
"How was it working with Harish Shankar and Maruthi?" "Very nice working with great people."
"Working experience with Suhas?" "Very nice person. He works very hard. On the film set, he only talks about the film. He is not a big talking person."
"The love scenes in 'O Bhaama Ayyo Rama' feel new?" "Even though they are general love scenes found in all films, the feel in the love scenes in this film is new. Everyone will definitely enjoy and be entertained."
"How was it to act in 'O Bhaama Ayyo Rama'?" "I feel very lucky to have done this film and to have gotten such a role, playing Satyabhama."
Family Background and Film Selection
"What is your family background?" "My family has no film background. I am acting with family support. But all my relatives were scared at first. I, however, have no fear. I am proud to act in films. Now, after watching the trailer, my family felt very happy."
"Have you seen any of Suhas's previous films?" "I have seen Colour Photo and Hit-2."
"What factors do you consider when choosing films?" "I received many offers. I am only doing films with stories that I like. I am doing films in my comfort zone. I am only doing roles if I feel I fit them. I first did a Malayalam film. Jo is a Tamil film."
"The songs of this film are getting a very good response? Which is your favorite song?" "I liked all the songs very much. These songs appealed to everyone regardless of language. All the songs touched my heart."
"About producer Harish:" "The producer is a very nice person. He spent very richly on the film, as much as was needed. He loves cinema very much."
"Will you do glamorous roles?" "I don't have a rule about whether to do glamorous roles or not. If I like the story, I have only done roles that I felt comfortable with. I will not do roles that I don't like."
