Superstar Aamir Khan, known for his meticulous approach to filmmaking, has recently offered a profound hint about what might be his ultimate cinematic endeavor: a monumental adaptation of the ancient Indian epic, the 'Mahabharat.' The 60-year-old actor, who has long expressed his fervent desire to bring this saga to the screen, suggests its sheer scale could leave him with no further ambitions in filmmaking.
During a candid conversation on Raj Shamani's podcast, Khan articulated his vision for the 'Mahabharat,' describing it as an all-encompassing project that encapsulates every facet of human experience. "It's layered, it has emotion, it has scale, everything you find in the world, you will find in 'Mahabharat'," he passionately stated.
Reflecting on the immense scope of such a creation, he mused, "Maybe after doing this, I will feel that I have nothing left to do. I cannot do anything after this, as the material of this film is going to be like that." He concluded with a poignant thought, "I hope that I die with my shoes on, but since you are asking, this is the one thing I can think of. Perhaps after this, I will feel that I don’t need to do anything else."
This isn't the first time Khan has spoken about his 'Mahabharat' dream. In a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he outlined his grand ambition, envisioning it as a multi-film saga rather than a single movie. "I don’t think you can tell the 'Mahabharat' in one film, so it will be multiple films," he had affirmed, even suggesting the need for "more than one director" to complete it efficiently.
Before embarking on this potential swansong, Aamir Khan has several projects on his slate. He is currently preparing for the release of his sports drama, 'Sitaare Zameen Par,' scheduled for June 20, 2025. He will also be seen in Rajinikanth's 'Coolie,' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Additionally, Khan is actively involved in production, backing Sunny Deol's period drama 'Lahore 1947,' helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
