In a distressing turn of events just weeks before its anticipated June release, Vishnu Manchu's upcoming Telugu fantasy epic, 'Kannappa,' has reportedly fallen victim to a significant security breach. A hard drive containing crucial, unreleased footage from the film has gone missing, sparking a police investigation and raising concerns for the production team.
According to a report by 123 Telugu, the hard drive, which held vital scenes, was in transit from a Mumbai-based VFX company to the production house in the South. The chain of custody has come under scrutiny: the drive was initially received in person by a man identified as Raghu, who then allegedly handed it over to a woman named Charitha for safekeeping. In a puzzling development, Charitha has since gone missing, further complicating the ongoing investigation.
Vijay Kumar, an executive producer for 'Kannappa,' has promptly filed a police complaint regarding the theft, initiating efforts to recover the invaluable lost footage. This incident has sent shockwaves through the production, creating a significant risk for the film just ahead of its theatrical debut. Further updates from the makers are eagerly awaited as the investigation progresses.
'Kannappa' has already garnered considerable attention for its star-studded lineup of cameo appearances. The film is set to feature some of Indian cinema's biggest names, including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal. These superstars are reportedly essaying crucial roles, each with considerable screen time, adding immense anticipation to the fantasy drama.
