Director Nag Ashwin, fresh from offering prayers at the sacred Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, has ignited anticipation for the sequel to his groundbreaking "Kalki 2898 AD." Speaking to the media, Ashwin revealed that the script for "Kalki 2" is progressing rapidly, with plans to begin filming by the end of this year.
The director's visit to Tirumala, a place of immense spiritual significance, seems to have infused him with renewed energy for the project. He also reiterated that Prabhas’s Karna character will have a much larger role in the sequel. As previously teased during the "Yevade Subramanyam" re-release, "Kalki 2" will delve deeper into the mythos of Karna and Ashwatthama.
"Kalki 2898 AD," released in June 2024, was a cinematic phenomenon, boasting a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, alongside Prabhas. The film's global box office success, grossing over ₹1,180 crores, has set the stage for an even more ambitious sequel.
With music by Santhosh Narayanan and produced by Ashwini Dutt, "Kalki 2" is poised to continue the epic saga, further exploring the unique blend of mythology and science fiction that captivated audiences worldwide.
