Heroines have always been an integral part of our films and without leading ladies, it is impossible to imagine movies. There are hardly any movies in Indian film industries, without the role of the heroine. However, for heroes who are past their prime it has become an arduous task to find the right actresses who suit their age and also look appealing for the audiences.
In Telugu, currently it has become a challenging task for filmmakers to get heroines especially for Chiru, Balayya and then Nag and Venkatesh. Maybe if Soundarya would have been alive, she could have easily paired with them when there are not many romantic songs involved. Kajal paired with Chiru in Khaidi No. 150 and recently Shruti paired with Balayya in Veera Simha Reddy and with Chiru in Waltair Veerayya. The directors are ensuring that there is no awkward romance given the fact that there is a large age gap and hence they are struggling a lot to make the pairing look less awkward. Still there is open criticism that these heroes should at least choose little middle-aged actresses.
This has become a problem particularly for Chiru and Balayya since they still have a large fan base and they need to meet fans expectations as well. However, in this regard Tamil film industry seems to be showing some solution. Thala Ajith is now working on his next film after the recent success of his movie that was released during Pongal.
There are reports that Aishwarya Rai has almost been finalized while Trisha may be roped in for the second heroine's role. They both were seen recently in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyan Selvan-1. Some feel that Aishwarya could be a right choice along with Sushmitha Sen, Vidya Balan and others who can look both glamorous as well as look apt according to age for our senior star heroes. Although Ash didn't work in Tollywood so far, except for one item song with Nag in late 90s many fans are hoping that she could be convinced to work in Telugu too so that they can feel less awkward watching their 60 plus heroes romancing 20 plus heroines.
