Tonique Liquor Mart, the elite luxury liquor boutique, was on Sunday night closed down by Excise department officials. The premium boutique, located on Jubilee Hills, Road No. 36, was shut down after its liquor license was not given renewal by concerned authorities.
In March this year, a report by RTV alleged that the Mart received favours from the previous government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao. As per the report, in 2017, Tonique was given extra benefits that were not available for other liquor shop merchants in Telangana. The report estimated a loss of Rs 100 Cr to the exchequer because of the alleged largesse that was made available for Tonique.
Tonique Beverages India LLP is a partnership firm incorporated in 2019. Anith Raj Laxman Reddy and Sai Silpa Anith Reddy are serving as designated partners. Reports say that Anith Reddy comes from a family of coal miners.
Tonique has a presence in ten locations across India. Anith Reddy, in a recent interview, said that he has plans to expand it to New York as well.
