Karimnagar's renowned silver filigree craft has secured a prestigious spot on the list of lavish gifts to be presented to esteemed guests attending the upcoming wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in July. The Silver Filigree of Karimnagar Handicrafts Welfare Society (SIFKA) has received an order for approximately 400 high-value artifacts, including jewelry boxes, purses, trays, fruit bowls, and more, for the extravagant affair.
Filigree, an intricate form of metalwork, involves delicately twisting thin threads of precious metals like gold or silver and soldering them together to create elaborate patterns and designs. This ancient craft, practiced by around 150 families in Karimnagar, Telangana, received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2007, recognizing its cultural significance and exceptional craftsmanship.
