NTR’s Ideology is Eternal and Ever-Relevant: TD Janardhan at "Malaysia Telugu Punadhi" 12th Anniversary

The "Malaysia Telugu Punadhi" organization celebrated its 12th anniversary with grandeur in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dedicated to preserving Telugu culture and fostering community support among the Telugu diaspora, the organization hosted two significant events on May 9 at the Royal Commonwealth Society of Malaysia, attended by hundreds of Telugu families.

The highlights of the evening included the launch of the book "Sajeeva Charitra" (Living History), a tribute to the legendary actor and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), and a seminar on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Agriculture.

Honoring a Legend: The Launch of "Sajeeva Charitra"

The event was graced by high-profile dignitaries from India, including TD Janardhan (Chairman of the NTR Literature Committee, Former MLC, and TDP National Vice-President) and Nandamuri Ramakrishna (son of the late Sri N.T. Rama Rao). Special guests included Datuk Sahadevan and Datuk Dr. Krishnamurthy.

After paying floral tributes to NTR’s portrait, the book Sajeeva Charitra, which chronicles the 1984 movement to protect democracy, was officially released by TD Janardhan and Nandamuri Ramakrishna.

NTR’s Vision: A Blueprint for Development

In his keynote address, TD Janardhan provided an in-depth look at NTR’s multifaceted life and the historic circumstances that led to the formation of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

  • Social Reformer: He detailed NTR’s pioneering schemes for the underprivileged and his revolutionary steps toward women's empowerment, such as granting equal property rights to daughters and providing reservations in education and employment.

  • Global Outreach: Janardhan explained that the NTR Literature Committee is working to pass on NTR’s ideology to future generations. He noted that he has been traveling globally to connect with the diaspora and participate in commemorative events.

  • Political Legacy: He remarked that Nara Chandrababu Naidu is successfully carrying forward NTR’s developmental legacy in Andhra Pradesh, while Nara Lokesh is modernizing the party for the new era.

  • Digital Tribute: He encouraged the diaspora to follow the "Anna NTR" YouTube channel to stay connected with the legend’s life story.

Personal Reflections: A Father’s Devotion to the Public

Nandamuri Ramakrishna shared a touching personal anecdote reflecting his father’s unwavering commitment to public service. He recalled that during the 1982 elections, NTR was so occupied with his campaign that he could not attend the weddings of his sons, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Ramakrishna himself, in Tirupati. Instead, he blessed them over the phone, proving that for NTR, the people always came before family.

Community and Culture

The event featured prominent local leaders, including Datuk R. Kantharao Aku Naidu (President of the Malaysia Telugu Foundation) and Venkat Ramana (Vice President of the Malaysia Telugu Welfare and Cultural Association).

The celebrations were enriched by vibrant cultural performances by local Telugu residents and concluded with a traditional Telugu feast, marking a successful milestone for the "Malaysia Telugu Punadhi."
