Veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni recently attended the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of ANR College in Gudivada, Krishna District, where he participated as the chief guest. The event turned into a memorable occasion for students and staff as Nagarjuna made a significant philanthropic announcement.

Addressing the gathering, Nagarjuna Akkineni revealed that the Akkineni family will set up a ₹2 crore scholarship fund at ANR College in memory of his parents, Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) and Annapurna Akkineni. The initiative, he noted, was a collective decision taken by him, his sister Susheela, brother Venkat, and other members of the family.

“We felt it is our duty to pay a lasting tribute to our parents,” Nagarjuna shared.
“My father once donated ₹1 lakh to this very institution, and we wanted to continue that spirit of contribution. We will work closely with the college management to ensure that the scholarship fund is executed responsibly and benefits deserving students.”

The announcement was met with hearty applause from the assembled students, faculty, and dignitaries, appreciating not just the generosity of the Akkineni family, but also their commitment to education and community development.

By honoring the legacy of Akkineni Nageswara Rao, one of Telugu cinema’s greatest icons, Nagarjuna Akkineni reinforced his family’s enduring ties to academia, philanthropy, and social responsibility.
