Telugu NRIs have made India proud with all their achievements in their country of choice. Particularly, in America their success story has only enhanced India’s image. However, there is also a witty talk that some of them are ok with strict visa norms. Well, this may come as a surprise but here’s the inside soup.

Getting a visa to land in the US is a big deal and these days we see that the craze for America is only growing and shows no signs of slowing down. But for those who have settled and already got their Green card and citizenship, many feel that they may not be that welcoming for new arrivals from India.

So, here’s the tongue-in-cheek situation. Those Telugus who are on H1B, tend to have a Democrat mindset saying that America is a land of immigrants and opportunity seekers. Once they get the Green card they slowly get into a mix of democrat and republican mindset and once they obtain the citizenship they get into a complete Republican mindset wherein sharing fortunes is not entertained. Though it is not common for everyone, some minds tend to change so is the observation.

Meanwhile, reports reveal that it takes at least 2-3 years for Indian Passport holders for getting an appointment for tourist visa to the US while those who apply for Green Card now would get it after ‘200’ years! This does sound bizarre but it is said to be true. That's the situation based on backlogs, as per the authorities in US.

Also, there is a perception that the dollar-rupee war may be the reason why Indians are now waiting the longest (even 1000 days) for a US visa with American authorities expressing their displeasure in this way. It is known that India is going ahead to make rupee relevant in international trade with some of its nearby countries, dumping the dollar. It sure seems to be working as a blessing in disguise for the Telugu Citizens of America though.
