Movie Review- Rangabali: Silly and Over the Top

Rangabali is a film that has been promoted a lot in the last few days. The film directed by Pawan Bamisetti has been released today. Read this review to know if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot:

Rangabali is a romantic drama centered around Shaurya(Naga Shaurya), a carefree youth from Rajavaram, who is sent to Vizag by his father to work alongside medical student Sahaja(Yukthi Thareha). Shaurya falls in love with Sahaja and seeks her father's(Murali Sharma) approval for their marriage. However, when Sahaja's father learns about Shaurya's hometown, he rejects the proposal, leading to conflicts that drive the story forward. How will Shaurya solve his issues and marry Saharaja is the story.

Performances:

Naga Shaurya delivers a convincing performance as Shaurya, although his impact diminishes somewhat in the second half. Shine Tom Chacko, who made a strong impression in her Dasara debut, doesn't receive enough scope to shine in the latter portion of the film. Yukti Thareja, making her Telugu debut, impresses with her natural looks and chemistry with Shaurya. Satya steals the show with his hilarious performance, effectively preventing the film from unraveling. Sarath Kumar leaves a lasting impression despite limited screen time, while Brahmaji and Saptagiri's cameo appearances fail to make a significant impact.

Technical Aspects:

The music by Pawan CH is impressive, and the production design successfully captures the essence of the small-town setting. However, the forced emotions and weak execution in the second half hinder the film's overall impact. Director Pawan Bamisetti presents a simple story with a decent comedy angle in the first half but struggles to handle the multiple elements in the latter half, ultimately leaving the audience somewhat disappointed.

Plus Points:

Director Pawan Bamisetti skillfully introduces Shaurya's character, showcasing his life in Rajavaram and his blossoming romance with Sahaja in an authentic and entertaining manner.

Comedian Satya's humorous role adds significant value to the first half, providing moments of laughter and engaging the audience. The film effectively incorporates the Rangabali Center, a key element of the plot, during this initial phase.

Minus Points:

The second half of Rangabali encounters some challenges. The narrative takes an unexpected turn, focusing more on the Rangabali Center and its exploitation by the villain.

This shift leads to illogical sequences, lacking coherence, and excessive melodrama. The hero's character portrayal, including his choice of attire during fights, comes across as silly.

The portrayal of family emotions and sudden insults faced by the father feel contrived and this is where the film goes for a toss and shocks the audience with its boredom.

Sarath Kumar is wasted in his role which looks so silly. The manner in which the hero is involved in the entire story is so silly that one fails to understand the thinking behind the narration.

Vox Verdict:

In conclusion, Rangabali provides an entertaining first half, filled with laughter thanks to Satya's performance. However, the second half loses its way with contrived emotions, uninspiring flashbacks, and weak execution, resulting in a film that falls short in every department.

Rating: 2.25/5
