Armed with deadly weapons, gang attempts to grab land in Hyderabad

Land grabbing by goonda elements seems to be an increasing threat in Hyderabad. Some recent developments suggest that those who own parcels of land in and around Hyderabad must be wary of these criminal gangs.

As per a report published by investigative journalist Sudhakar Udumula, the Rajendra Nagar police have apprehended a gang attempting to forcibly occupy land in the Attapur area. In all, 9 suspects have been detained. They were in possession of knives at the time of their arrest.

The police acted on the basis of a tip-off given by someone who lives in Attapur.

The gang members' modus operandi involves using dogs to scare people. They even install CCTVs near the places that they plan to grab. They raise small walls and threaten people who question them.

"Their target is any property that is found to be neglected. They prepare fake documents and even mislead the courts. Recently, we arrested a gang that was put up at a farmhouse in Shamshabad. We will know whether they are rowdy sheeters after interrogation. Two of the nine individuals arrested today in Attapur are from the real estate sector," the Cyberabad police said.
