If the BJP doesn't cross the simple majority figure of 272 seats in Lok Sabha, the Narendra Modi government will be dependent on the TDP and the JDU for its survival. While Chandrababu Naidu might not wag his tail, Nitish Kumar will most certainly give Modi a scare.
A study of the Bihar CM's past says that he has been dreaming of cutting Modi to size for the past ten years. In 2013, when Modi was declared the BJP's PM candidate, NiKu parted ways with the NDA. He joined hands with the RJD for the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections. As a result, the BJP-led NDA lost the election badly.
Modi was hoping that the BJP alone will win 350 seats this time. He was planning to install a BJP CM in Bihar after the election result by offering a Central Ministry to NiKu. But now, NiKu might actually be made a bigger offer by Rahul Gandhi. If that happens, there will be instability at the Centre. RaGa would do everything to prevent the NDA from getting a majority on the floor of the Parliament.
Of course, the above analysis would hold only and only if the final tally is bad for the BJP. If it crosses the 272 mark, there is no debate that Modi will be in a comfortable position for the next five years.
