We are boycotting the Graduate MLC elections: Perni Nani

Former minister Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani) expressed strong outrage, stating that while law and order in the state continues to deteriorate, the ruling coalition government has shown no concern. He pointed out that despite more than 100 cases of rape involving girls and women over the past five months, there has been no response from the government. He criticized the government for not addressing the issues that affect the public, failing to fulfill election promises, and resorting to diversionary politics.

He also alleged that when their party questioned the government's failures, social media activists of their party were being falsely implicated in criminal cases and arrested in the middle of the night, with their families not being informed about their whereabouts. In light of these circumstances, he announced that the YSRCP has decided to boycott the Graduate MLC elections in the Guntur, Krishna, and united Godavari districts.

Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office, former ministers Perni Nani, Ambati Rambabu, and former MLA Pinnaelli Ramakrishna Reddy from Guntur and Krishna districts highlighted several issues. They stated that the democratic system in the state has collapsed and that cases involving Section 41-A notices from two years ago had been unlawfully altered to Section 307, resulting in wrongful imprisonment and harassment.

They further accused the police system of being reduced to a private army of the ruling coalition, particularly the TDP, with law enforcement officers too scared to even look at the atrocities being committed by coalition leaders. They alleged that the government had violated laws for postings, and even when the YSRCP flag was flown, those who questioned the government's incompetence were harassed with baseless legal cases.

Given the current situation, the former ministers said that trust in the democratic process of the Graduate MLC elections has severely diminished. They accused the ruling government of creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, preventing candidates from campaigning freely, and resorting to violent tactics to rig the elections. In light of these concerns, they announced that the YSRCP would be boycotting the upcoming Graduate MLC elections in the three aforementioned districts.
